The M370 is a heritage apple from the Morden Research Station in Morden, Manitoba. It was never given a formal name, but was identified by its stock number, M370 - the 370th apple tree in its row.

The tree was distributed for testing and eventually made its way to an orchard in central Alberta, along with other experimental apple trees. It continued to grow there for generations, and we were fortunate to be contacted by the family who had cared for and preserved this remarkable tree.

The M370 apple is green with red streaks and light yellow flesh. Apples are heavy for their size, being sweet, crisp, and very juicy. They average 6-8 cm (~2.5") in diameter. One of the M370’s standout qualities is its excellent keeping ability. In most years, the apples store well into late winter. Ripening begins mid-September and the apples hang on the tree reliably until late October. Great to eat fresh and use for juicing. The tree is a good producer most years.

We are excited to help continue the story of the M370 by bringing this piece of Canadian apple-growing history back into cultivation. From an experimental breeding row in Morden, to a family orchard in central Alberta, and now into the gardens and orchards of a new generation, we are pleased to offer the M370 for you to grow and enjoy.
