Boreal Beast Haskap

Despite most Haskap pollinators known to be less flavourful, Boreal Beast stands out with its remarkable taste, beautiful aroma, and delightful aftertaste. Its thick, oval-shaped berries average 2 grams and ripen from mid to late July. Plus, its shrubs are very productive, yielding substantial fruit. Shrubs are compact and tidy and begin to produce fruit within 2 years after planting. Boreal Beast was released by the University of Saskatchewan.

Haskap, also known as honeyberry, is a cold-hardy fruit that has become increasingly popular in North America. The elongated berries have a distinctive sweet-tart flavour, often compared to a blend of raspberry and blueberry, with a pleasantly complex flavour of their own.

Haskaps can be enjoyed fresh or used in jams, pies, smoothies, sauces, fruit leather and other preserves. They are also naturally rich in antioxidants, making them both a delicious and nutritious addition to the garden.

Known as a pollinator, Boreal Beast Haskap provides an extended flowering period appropriate to pollinate both the Boreal Blizzard and Boreal Beauty.
